Second Grade Head Coach Ben Rutherford previews ANZAC blockbuster at Coogee Oval.
Last weekend for Round Three our grade teams headed to Forshaw Rugby Park to play Southern Districts on a hot and humid Easter Saturday.
4th grade kicked off proceedings with a 24-17 bonus point win before 3rd grade hit the dance floor and put on a show with a completely dominant 66-22 victory.
2nd grade continued the trend, scoring 5 tries to record a comprehensive 33-11 win. Next cab off the rank for the Galloping Greens is a top of the table clash against Easts, with both sides undefeated and looking to make a statement early in the season.
After encouraging signs early, 1st grade showed plenty of ticker to come away with a losing bonus point in a 24-17 loss. The boys continue to work hard to secure their first victory.
Meanwhile at Coogee, the colts secured big wins across the board - 3s winning 58-0, 2s 53-5 and 1s 47-0.
The focus now shifts to Coogee Oval on ANZAC day, with a visit from traditional rivals Easts. Expect plenty of passion with emotions high in the first local derby of 2019, as both sides go toe-to-toe physically, leaving nothing in the tank. All involved understand the ultimate sacrifices so many brave men and women made for our great country and will play with respect and grit.
Once again, we'll have a chance to play as a Club on a 'Super Thursday', with our talented young colts getting an opportunity to share the stage with the grade teams.
We'd love to see as much support as possible this ANZAC Day Thursday and look forward to doing the Club proud in front of a big crowd.
Up The Wicks!
