Four of Randwick's teams through to the Semi Finals!

First Colts

Randwick had six of seven teams qualify for the finals, with games spread over two days and several venues.

Undefeated First Grade Colts earned themselves a semi-final berth at home against 6th placed Eastern Suburbs. Randwick started off as you would expect an undefeated side; running in five unanswered tries before Easts returned the compliment.

In the second half, Randwick lost some momentum and with two yellow cards to Right Winger Matt Stead and Scrum Half Ellis Hawker, enabled Easts to run in two converted tries. However, Randwick ran out convincing winners and now only require one more win to make the Grand Final.

Third Colts

Also playing at Coogee Oval, 3rd Colts faced Sydney University. Randwick got off to a good start scoring the first two tries to lead Sydney University by 12 points. In spite of Sydney University scoring the last try of the game, Randwick held out the students.

Second Grade

2nd Grade, the boys travelled to Pittwater Rugby Park to face fifth position Eastwood. In what was a physical and tightly contested game, Inside Centre Ben Starkey was yellow carded for repeated offences, but Randwick managed to lead 17 points to Eastwood’s 3.

Having a player yellow carded did not hinder Eastwood from scoring two converted tries and a penalty conversion. Fortunately, Randwick rose to the occasion, scoring another converted try and penalty goal to run out winners.

Fourth Grade

4th grade had the unenviable task of playing Warringah at home at Pittwater Rugby Park. Warringah who were 2nd on the table, were far more organised than Randwick. Randwick went down 48 points to nil and were eliminated.

On Sunday, 3rd grade travelled to TG Millner Field to face Gordon. Despite Gordon being placed 5th on the ladder below 2nd placed Randwick, Gordon were more organised and appeared more enthusiastic than Randwick.

Randwick held a slender lead of 22 points to 19 but had no answer to Gordon’s late charge. Fortunately, due to their position, Randwick progress to next week and take on Sydney University.

Second Colts

2nd grade colts headed off to Chatswood Oval to face Gordon who were top of the table and, despite what might have seemed an overwhelming task for a team placed in 6 position, still managed a 12 all draw. Unfortunately this was not enough for Randwick to proceed any further.
