COVID Situation Update - July 1

COVID Situation Update - July 1

As you would be acutely aware, in this area we have all been red-carded with the latest escalation of the COVID-19 Delta Strain and the massive efforts to stop its spread. This initially led to the postponement of our Round 11 Norths match at Coogee last Saturday.

Now with all Community Sport suspended during the enforced lockdown period until July 9, for Randwick District Rugby it means the following:

  • Round 12 vs Eastwood at TG Milner and Round 13 vs Manly, which also sadly means our Indigenous Celebration Day at Coogee are already postponed, with all Sydney Rugby Union competitions suspended across all grades.
  • Normal training for Randwick Grade, Colts and Women teams is suspended.
  • All competition/training for our junior village clubs is suspended – Clovelly, Coogee, Maroubra, Randwick Warriors, Randwick Magic and South Coogee.
  • Our Galloping Greens Junior School Holiday Rugby Camp to be held at Latham Park on July 6 & 8 has been postponed until September 20 & 22. There is a transfer to the September Camp or refund option available to those that booked.
  • The Back To Randwick Day ex-player reunion planned on Friday July 23 at Coogee Surf Club is cancelled. Anyone that booked tickets will be refunded.
  • The club office at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach is closed and our staff will work remotely from home.

Aside from governments, we await direction from Rugby Australia & NSW Rugby on next steps and the future of grade, colts, women’s and junior competitions, potential re-starting dates and what the structure will look like if we do.

Until then we simply can’t organise a proverbial in a proverbial and every aspect of our rugby operation is on ice. There are many questions but no answers, my friends.

However, if you are bored at home endlessly watching replays on Stan Sports of our big win over the Two Blues or of Le Tour De France peloton crashes, then go online and do some shopping (can you feel shameless marketing pitch no.88 coming….)

Head to The Wicks Shop to find all our fabulous Wick’s supporter gear you need at your fingertips – from retro jerseys, jackets, hoodies, beanies, caps and a whole lot more.

On theme we now have Wicks branded face masks to get you into the COVID swing. Plus we have a new supply in of puffer vests, puffer jackets, soft shell jackets, wet weather jackets and umbrellas. The Wicks Shop is open 24/7 online and no QR code is required!

For now keep yourself and your loved ones safe during this time and one of the best ways to do so it would appear, is to get yourself vaccinated. There's a bit of a needle to get you motivated.

Up the Wicks!

Regards
Mark
