Randwick 2nd Grade go down in a top of the table clash against Eastwood

First Grade

Having prepared well during the week, the boys headed off to T G Millner Field to meet Eastwood. Randwick started off well and it wasn’t long before Left Lock Nathan Den Hoedt scored the first try. After 10 minutes, Randwick led Eastwood 12 nil. When left winger Josh Gordon was sin binned for an illegal tackle, the momentum turned in Eastwood’s favour and before long Eastwood led Randwick 28 points to 12.

Randwick started the second half well scoring the first try 15 minutes in, when Josh Gordon was sin binned for a second time, which is classified as a mandatory red card and prevented him from returning to the field. As a result, Eastwood continued their momentum, scoring another two tries before Randwick regained some composure in the last 10 minutes and scored two tries. The coach praised left lock Nathan Den Hoedt for his overall contribution and scoring two tries.

Second Grade

In second grade, it was a top of the table clash which was fiercely contested. Midway through the second half Randwick led 22 points 20, when Eastwood Right winger Samuel Dolores was red carded for a spear tackle on Randwick’s Lachlan Anderson. Randwick quickly capitalised, scoring two tries and taking a dominant lead into the last 20 minutes. Eastwood then returned the compliment by scoring two tries to bring them within 2 points. Randwick’s loose head prop was then Red Carded for an illegal tackle and, after the bell, Randwick’s right lock Tom Weatherall was yellow carded, giving Eastwood a kick at goal for the game.

Third Grade

In third grade, Randwick capitalised on an Eastwood yellow card taking a 17-point lead. Eastwood rallied well and scored two converted tries. In the second half, both teams continued some good attacking flare with both teams scoring a number of lengthy tries. Despite Blindside Flanker Dave Akkersdyk being yellow carded for a professional foul, Randwick had the last say with Fullback Henrik Anthony scoring the last try. Half back Dimitry Chipizubov was responsible for scoring 15 of those points.

Fourth Grade

Again, a top of the table clash in Fourth grade, Randwick were outclassed by a slick
Eastwood who ran in 7 unanswered tries.
