News Release: SCAPE named as Major Sponsor of the Galloping Greens!

Randwick Rugby is one of the most iconic clubs and famous brands in world rugby.

Our highly successful Senior and Junior Development programs are also regarded as one of the best in Australia. 2023 was a phenomenal year for the club, winning the Sydney Rugby Union Club Championships and the time-honoured Shute Shield First Grade Premiership - fittingly in the 100th season that competition was contested.

On the back of this success, Randwick Rugby Club is today absolutely delighted to announce that Scape,Australia’s largest owner operator of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), has become the club’s major sponsor for the 2024 and 2025 seasons as part of its continued commitment to revitalise the Kensington and Kingsford town centres in Sydney.

This initial announcement was made to a packed house last Friday at Randwick Rugby’s Annual Lunch and Season Launch. This event was held in Sydney and attended by new Wallabies Head Coach Joe Schmidt and other rugby and business luminaries, on the eve of the 2024 Sydney Rugby Union Premier Competition kicking off.

Scape, which was a lower tier sponsor of the club in 2023, has agreed to significantly upgrade its support of Randwick Rugby to become our front of jersey major partner and both parties are delighted with this outcome.

Randwick Rugby’s President, John Tuxworth said “I truly believe this new partnership with Scape will become a landmark moment for our club. To have a business the scale of Scape so willing to support us and committing to being a part of our journey, is a tremendous boost across our entire community.”

“Scape is an organisation with a fantastic reputation and the security of a multi-year deal enables us to drive our club forward across all key areas of the game from Under 6-year-old boys and girls to first grade. Our entire rugby eco-system and local community will be thankful for their trust and support.” Tuxworth continued.

Scape CEO, Anouk Darling, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our support via the major sponsorship of Randwick Rugby, one of Australia’s most successful rugby clubs, where community is the forefront of everything they do.”

“Sport brings people and communities together and promotes healthy living and physical well-being. We are proud to support Randwick Rugby who are a like-minded partner, in terms of providing opportunities for young Australians on and off the field, as is already demonstrated by their close relationship with UNSW.”

“This partnership builds on Scape’s existing presence in Sydney, where we are in the process of creating vibrant, sustainable and inclusive communities in Kensington and Kingsford that cater to the needs of students, residents, and the broader community. We are both here to grow and nurture the community, long-term,” Darling said.

The 2024 Charter Hall Sydney Rugby Union Competition kicks-off on Saturday, April 6, with Randwick facing the Hunter Wildfires in Round 1 in Newcastle - the first assignment in our Shute Shield title defence.

Up the Wicks!
