An important message from Randwick Rugby in relation to the tragic events at Bondi Junction on Saturday.

A Message From Randwick Rugby

Sadly, it has been an incredibly tragic weekend in our local community with the horrific events at Bondi Junction bringing home how fickle and precious life can be. All of us in this area and our families and friends go to Westfield’s so regularly, so it’s been extremely difficult just to comprehend the enormity of what has happened here.

In that vein, tragically it has hit even closer to home to Randwick Rugby, specifically to Jack Singleton - our 2023 First Grade Manager, Clovelly Junior Rugby Committee Member and now President of our biggest Junior club the Randwick Warriors. His sister, Dawn was one of the victims of this horrendous act and sadly lost her life on Saturday. Our love, thoughts and prayers go out to Jack and his family on this terrible loss of a beautiful 25-year-old women in the prime of her life.

We obviously extend our deepest sympathy to all the other victims, their families and loved ones and those people traumatised by this barbaric act. We also sincerely thank and are in awe of all the first responders for their bravery and professionalism in dealing with such a dangerous and challenging situation to care for those in need.

In terms of true perspective, in a disappointed losing First Grade dressing room on Saturday, that was quickly forgotten as many of our players and staff on finding out about the Westfield tragedy, immediately checked in on their loved ones and make sure they were OK. The shock at this news from everyone in our room was palpable.

The whole episode is just absolutely devastating to everybody, but it’s obviously more pronounced in our local community. If you are struggling or in any distress please remember support is available.
