Randwick Rugby is Seeking a First Grade Head Coach for the 2025 Season!
An opportunity of a lifetime exists to join Randwick Rugby, as our First Grade Head Coach
for the 2025 season and join some of the greatest names in world rugby, who have coached the Galloping Greens in our proud history.
Role Purpose:
Based at Coogee, the First Grade Head Coach at Randwick Rugby is responsible for coaching, recruitment, skill development and management of our top squad players and relevant support staff, with the primary objective of positioning our club to win the Shute Shield and Club Championship in 2025.
Reporting Structure:
The First Grade Head Coach at Randwick DRUFC reports directly to the Director of Rugby and General Manager of the club and indirectly to the club board.
Role Responsibilities:
- Be the First Grade Head Coach and embrace all that it entails at a famous club like Randwick.
- To plan and implement our Top Squad program to ensure there is a coordinated approach to player recruitment & retention, coaching, athletic performance and rugby development which benefits all levels of the Club.
- Ensure there is a strong emphasis on developing and implementing a consistent style of play that is understood and embraced consistently across the entire club down to our juniors.
- Develop, drive and grow a winning high performance rugby culture, which inspires our players to be better and succeed in the premier rugby competition in the country.
- To participate in the weekly process for injuries with the club’s medical, physio and rehabilitation staff and then the return to play protocols for our players.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Rugby, Lower Grade Coaches and GM to ensure implementation and clear communication of club policies e.g., selection, medical etc.
- Ensure all training sessions are pre-planned & objectives/ outcomes well communicated to players and support staff.
- Use all coaching technology available to review performance/plan for upcoming matches.
The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and qualifications:
- Minimum Level 3 Rugby Coaching Accreditation or equivalent.
- Significant rugby coaching experience in a High-Performance Rugby program or equivalent.
- Demonstrated success in a similar leadership role. Experience at this level at a Shute Shield Club or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Have sound technical coaching knowledge and experience in all aspects of the game.
- Vast experience using video review programs such as HUDL.
- Strong planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and personality to drive club culture.
- Competency in Windows programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – both written and oral, most particularly a confident public speaker.
- Be an Australian resident.
- A current Working with Children/Work with Vulnerable People check.
- A current NSW drivers’ licence.
Position Term:
This is a Fixed Term Contract position for the 2025 rugby season, with a further year option based on performance criteria. Aside from office hour obligations, flexible working hours are required to attend weekend matches, evening training sessions, events, meetings or for travel purposes.
An attractive salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
The role will not commence until after the 2024 Sydney Rugby season has been completed, and then at a mutually agreeable time.
