Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club Appoints new General Manager

Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club is today pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Harrison as General Manager, responsible for overall operations and to drive the strategic direction of the Football Club.

Mark joins the Club with over 30 years’ experience in the media, marketing and ecommerce industries, having worked with some of Australia's best-known companies and brands. He is currently consulting for News Corp Australia in its magazine division, but prior to that had a distinguished 21 year career with Australia’s largest magazine publisher ACP/Bauer Media Group. There he held a host of senior divisional leadership positions, including extensive years in General Management and Marketing Director roles.

Aside from his vast corporate background, Mark has also spent two decades volunteering within the local sporting community and most relevantly across Randwick Junior Rugby. He coached a multitude of junior teams at Coogee, but made his most significant impact as the highly respected President of both Randwick District Junior Rugby Union Football Club and Coogee Junior Rugby Union Club.

On the field Mark represented Randwick in both grade and colts from 1984-1988 and played in Colts premiership teams in 1984 and 1985. Mark is also a long term member of Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club and was heavily involved in its surf sports program as a competition director and successful sprint coach.

Randwick DRUFC President Bob Dwyer today said "Mark is the ideal person to take charge of the Club".

“We had many impressive candidates apply for this role, however we are delighted to have enticed such a high calibre individual as Mark. He has an excellent track record and personal reputation both in the corporate world and throughout our local sporting community. Plus he truly understands the dynamics of Randwick Rugby at all levels of the Club.”

Mark stated “I have had a lifelong passion for Randwick Rugby and been involved with it in so many guises, so this role is a perfect fit at this stage of my life. Randwick is an iconic club and brand, so this is a unique opportunity for me to lead and best position it for future success on and off the field."

Mark will commence with Randwick Rugby in this role on Monday September 2, 2019.
