New Club President Elected at AGM

The 97^th Annual General Meeting of the Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club was held on Wednesday 11th December 2019 at Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

Randwick DRUFC Council nominations for 2020 were received from eligible financial members and accepted in accordance with the Randwick DRUFC constitution. The 2020 Council was elected without a vote required at the meeting, as the number of candidates matched the number of positions available.

Our long-standing Club President, Life Member and Legend Bob Dwyer AM advised the meeting of his decision to step down after 8 successful years in the role. We are eternally grateful for Bob’s outstanding leadership in this period, but fortunately he has decided to continue as a council member which is a great outcome for the club, as we can continue to utilise his unequalled knowledge, experience and connections within the game.

Replacing Bob, as our Club President is John Tuxworth who was elected unopposed. John is no stranger to the club, was elected as a Life Member in 2018 and played over 200 grade games for us as a tough and uncompromising hooker. Aside from his rugby background and passion for the club, John will also bring immense business acumen skills to the role with his vast senior executive experience.

We also welcome former First Grade Captain and Wallaby Stephen Hoiles and also long-standing volunteer Chris Fraser as new members to the Council. They will replace Ian Kellaway and Stu Rutherford who have stepped down from the Council after many years of loyal service, we are deeply appreciative of everything they have done for Randwick and wish them both well in their future endeavours.

The Club Coach Morgan Turinui and Life Member Representative Ian Kennedy will also fill a Council position as per the Club Constitution requirement.
