Colts Head of Performance (S&C) Job Description

Background:

Randwick Rugby is recognised as one of the most iconic clubs in world rugby and our highly successful Colts (U20’s) program is regarded as one of the best in Australia.

Our Colts program had an incredible 2025 season with all 3 Randwick Colts teams making the Grand Final, 1st and 2nd Colts both winning the premiership and being awarded Sydney Rugby’s Colts Champion Club for 2025. We produce many of Australia best players in the U20 age range and our club has a long track record of continually producing Junior Wallaby representatives and developing athletes into the senior professional ranks in both Australia and abroad.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Randwick DRUFC High Performance staff as our Colts Head of Performance (S&C) and play an important role in developing our program’s best young prospects and reports directly to the Club’s overall Head of Performance and Director of Rugby.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver warmup, technical (speed & COD) and reconditioning (endurance, interval-based, contact-based) blocks at training.
  • Lead our game-day physical preparation and recovery for all Colts teams.
  • Engage effectively with the Medical/Physio team to manage athlete return to play protocols.
  • Monitor, analyse and provide reviews on GPS/load-based outcomes weekly, communicating effectively with coaches and or medical departments.
  • Design, coach and manage athlete compliance with gym training programs via Teambuildr.
  • Conduct periodic athlete physical testing with timely review and enact recommended interventions based on club benchmarks.
  • Attend regular meetings with S&C, Coaches or Medical staff

The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in exercise science or equivalent.
  • ASCA Level 2 Certification (or working towards it)
  • Experience in S&C coaching in a Rugby environment and successfully at this level.
  • Experience in effectively coaching speed, change of direction, strength, and power.
  • Experience in use of GPS tracking technology.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Excel and other related office products
  • An ambitious personality possessing strong written and verbal communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • A current Working with Children/Work with Vulnerable People check.

Position Term/Commitment:

This is a One (1) Year fixed term/part time remunerated role for 2026 with flexible working hours required during the rugby season to attend weekend matches and evening training sessions.

The commitment is on average up to 10 hours a week in season (March-August) and up to 5 hours a week in the initial preseason training blocks (November-February), which includes a 3-week Christmas training break in between. Our training base is at Latham Park, South Coogee.
